Job Summary

Indoor Rink Attendant provides excellent customer service to all Community Center patrons and guests. In addition, provides on ice supervision during open skates, skate lessons and/or special events ensuring safety and enjoyment of all patrons on ice and in ice arena. Indoor Rink Attendants will also work at outdoor ice skating rinks in Chaska during busy winter season. 

Responsibilities

  1. Provide excellent customer service to all Chaska Community Center patrons and guests. Greet customers with a smile and respond to their needs in a kind and courteous manner. 
  2. Provide on ice supervision during open skates and/or special events ensuring safety and enjoyment of all patrons on ice and in arena.  
  3. Assist Skate Shop area with skate rental, admission, hand stamping, and checking of membership cards.  
  4. Making sure facility entrances are clear and safe of debris and snow.  
  5. Handle all phone inquiries in the same kind and courteous manner.  
  6. Process all cash/checks received accurately and promptly.  
  7. Sharpen hockey and figure skates. (Full training in this area will be provided.)
  8. Work as a team to accomplish established goals or objectives  
  9. Participate in keeping all areas of the facility neat, clean and safe at all times. These duties include sweeping and mopping the rink restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, lobby, meeting rooms, bleachers and removing trash, vacuuming, cleaning rink glass.   
  10. Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience 

  • Age 16 or older 
  • Ability to work a variety of hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays  
  • American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
  • Previous work in a team setting 
  • Knowledge of ice skating, hockey, figure skating, or ice arena/community center operations 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with Ice Arena Supervisor and/or other Lead.  
  • Previous customer service experience preferred 
  • Previous cash handling experience preferred  

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
  • Ability to communicate with patrons of different backgrounds, ages, and experience levels.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
