Position Summary

The award-winning Brooklyn Park Recreation and Parks Department is looking for highly motivated, team-oriented, and enthusiastic individuals who have a desire to make a difference in Brooklyn Park by working at our sports dome facility at Park Center Senior High School. The Sports Dome Facility Attendant acts as host of the facility and is responsible for quality customer service delivery in the areas of supervision, monitoring of facility and program activities in the facility while providing appropriate customer contact and facilitating proper emergency procedures in the Sports Dome.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understands, reflects, communicates and assures that customers are conducting themselves according to established policies, including the noise level, neatness and supervision. Resolve customer concerns in accordance with standards of procedures.
  • Monitors and responds to behavior, safety and emergency situations.
  • Direct facility usage. This includes adhering to scheduled start/end times with accordance to the issued permit for the Sports Dome.
  • Assures that facility and/or equipment set-up and tear downs for events are completed in a timely manner.
  • Completes all preparation requirements for a given permit.
  • Assures proper use of equipment provided to facility users.
  • Administers basic first aid and directs emergency procedures in the event of an emergency.
  • Responsible for security procedures including opening or closing the facility.
  • Assists coordination and monitoring of facility operations.
  • Performs general cleaning and light maintenance duties.
  • Performs daily verbal and/or written communication and completes necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicates issues to direct supervisor.
  • Meet with supervisor as necessary to assure all related duties are completed. Attends meetings and training as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Desired Qualifications

No education requirement

18 years of age or older

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to attend training session.
  • Ability to work early mornings to late evenings working approximately 10-30 hours a week for the months of November, December, January, February, March and April (weekday evenings, weekends and holidays).
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pass the state of MN background check.
  • Ability to follow through and adhere to details defined on permits.
  • Ability to work with others effectively and cooperatively and listen to suggestions.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems according to established policy and procedure.
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to maturely and appropriately respond to any emergency or incident that may arise.
  • Ability to professionally exhibit cultural sensitivity, patience and understanding in the course or work duties.
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with people from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to provide a level of customer service that meets/exceeds customer expectation and satisfaction.

Desired Qualifications
  • Two (2)+ years of experience working with the public, specifically with children and adults in a crowd setting.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Experience working in a crowd control and/or, in a facility supervisory capacity.
  • Experience with sports and sports equipment use and setup.
  • Experience with personal computers.
  • Current CPR certification and Red Cross Basic First Aid training preferred.
  • Current Minnesota Driver's License or ability to obtain one.
  • Previous experience working with people from various cultural, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Laotian, Russian, Laotian, Somali or Vietnamese.
