Junior Naturalist Coordinator

Provide leadership and coordination of the Junior Naturalist Program at Westwood Hills Nature Center.

Position will work 20-29 hours per week from May - August 2023, typically daytime hours with some evenings required.

• Provide direction and coordination of the summer junior naturalist program.
• Provide direction, mentorship, and evaluation of volunteer junior naturalists.
• Prepare volunteer work schedules according to the needs of staff and the availability of each volunteer.
• Organize volunteer training and maintain training records.
• Provide information to volunteers, parents and naturalist staff via telephone, letters, email and person to person contact.
• Plan and lead special events and the City Council recognition presentation & reception at the end of the summer.
• Provide manager with information on the program on a timely basis. Prepare end-of-summer report of expenditures and number of participants, as well as an overall evaluation of the program.
• Create an image favorable to the Operations and Recreation Department by demonstrating excellent coordinating and administrative skills, good time management, a neat appearance, and the ability to interact with the public in a courteous, tactful, and professional manner.
