Job Description

Make an impact as our new temporary Employment Lab Assistant! This role will be a part of our Employment Services team supporting clients who visit our computer lab. You’ll help clients create resumes, search for jobs, and teach them computer skills. The Employment Lab Assistant will also provide administrative support to the Employment Services Team.  Join us and help jobseekers achieve their employment goals!

Schedule and Pay:


  • In-person, generally Monday-Friday between 9-6pm (requires regularly scheduled hours onsite to support needs of jobseekers; some flexibility in developing a set schedule)
  • Approximately 15 hours per week, (now through March 2023 with potential to continue!)
  • Compensation is $20/hour


What you'll do:

  • Staff our computer lab during open sessions and provide one-on-one or small group instruction to clients
  • Assist clients with resumes and cover letters and teach the skills to apply to jobs online
  • Utilize the NorthStar platform for digital literacy instruction, curriculum, and assessment (training provided!); past offerings have included keyboarding, basic computer instruction, Microsoft Office Suite, Cloud Storage, and more
  • Promote the computer lab and other employment-related events by organizing our flyer display and copying/distributing flyers to other departments
  • Collaborate with our Communications staff to research and write content for our digital newsletter and update flyers
  • Conduct online research and reach out to employment partners for current job openings, networking events or trainings
  • Assist with onsite employer events by providing administrative support and set-up
  • Conduct client outreach and follow-up
  • Provide eligible clients access to technology grants for internet/laptops
  • Record all client data into our database (Client Track)
  • Respond to client requests for more information, resources, and support
  • Coordinate client assistance with Employment Services volunteers




  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Intermediate computer skills, including internet, email, Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and willing & able to learn other software/database applications as needed
  • Sensitivity to the needs and barriers experienced by low-income, unemployed individuals
  • Ability to maintain a steady, calm approach to work
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Flexible approach to completing tasks and problem-solving
  • Organized and independent approach to varied work tasks
  • Interest in administrative tasks as well as direct service to jobseekers
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Must be able to commute to Plymouth, MN to work onsite
