Assistant Instructor - Playground Naturalist

To instruct natural history and environmental education programs to pre-school through middle school aged children in a park playground setting.

Hours of work: 32-40 hours per week including some weekend and evening hours. Position available June through mid-August.

1.Provide Environmental Education & Natural History programming.
•Instruct pre-school through middle school aged children in a summer playground setting following an established curriculum.
•Maintain a continuing interest in natural history and environmental education along with awareness of environmental issues and apply that knowledge in programming.

2.Evaluate and document programs conducted.
•Record daily attendance.
•Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and recommend modifications to curriculum.

3.Provide customer service.
•Handle inquiries in person, over the phone, and over the computer as needed.
•Distribute written materials and information to customers as needed.

4.Inform Interpretive Naturalist and/or Nature Center Manager of all relevant items.
•Report on status of programs and program development.
•Report on unsafe park conditions that exist.

5.Perform other duties as assigned.
